This Christmas Crack Recipe with Saltine Crackers has a perfect combination of sweetness from toffee and chocolate, and saltiness from saltine crackers. The saltines and toffee give a nice crunch, and I love that these are so quick to make! You can whip up a few batches for a holiday party without doing much work at all!
Supplies
- Baking sheet (with sides!)
- Aluminum foil
- Cooking spray
- Medium saucepan
- Measuring cups and spoons, scale
- Rubber spatula
Alright, you ready to get started?! Let’s get baking!
Instructions on How to Make Christmas Crack Recipe with Saltine Crackers
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Line a baking sheet that has sides with aluminum foil, and then spray it with cooking spray, and line the bottom of the pan with the saltine crackers in a single layer. You will want to make sure that they are pretty close to each other- touching is fine.
On the stovetop, bring the butter and brown sugar to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once it reaches a boil you will let it boil for three minutes.
After three minutes, pour the toffee (the mixture you just boiled) directly onto the top of the saltine crackers. You can try to use a spatula to help direct the toffee to cover as much of the saltine crackers as you can.
Place the pan into the oven for about 3-5 minutes, or until bubbling. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Place the pan back into the oven for another 2-3 minutes, or until the chocolate is melted. You will then use the spatula to smooth the chocolate into an even layer on top of the toffee.
Allow it to cool on the pan until room temperature. You may also refrigerate it to cool faster. I found it took several hours before it finally firmed up at room temperature. It is still delicious to eat while still warm, but the toffee will get crunchy after it solidifies.
Cut into squares around the saltines.

Notes
Do not use Nestle chocolate chips. They will not smooth out well for this recipe. Ghirardelli or Guittard will work well.
