Ingredients to make these Santa Hat Brownies for Christmas
You will need little brownie bites. You can either buy them at the store, or make them your own as usual and cut them out with a circle cutter, or bake them in a mini tart pan.
Additionally, you can use store-bought frosting or you can make your own buttercream frosting.
You’ll also need some red food coloring. I used this gel coloring, but, you can use your preferred red to make these.
How to make Christmas Brownies
Place about 2/3 of the frosting in a small bowl. Add food coloring until you get your desired color.
I used 5 drops, but you may want to use more or less based on your personal preference. Less dye is better because too much dye may affect the taste of the frosting. Use a spoon to stir the coloring and frosting together until no streaks remain.
Place red frosting in a piping bag, and cut the tip off so that you have a large hole. Put aside.
Fill a second piping bag with all but 1 tablespoon of white frosting, and cut a large hole. Put aside.
Fill the third piping bag with the final 1 tablespoon of white frosting, and cut a very small hole at the tip. Put aside.
Take the LARGE bag of WHITE frosting and make the base layer. I used a spoon to level it off a bit, but you can skip this step if you’d like.
Next, take the RED bag of frosting and spiral it up to make a shape of a hat. Finally, use the small bag of frosting to create a small “cotton ball” at the top of the hat.
